Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling – my darling – my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Lizzie Olsen

Introducing my latest fashion love: Elizabeth Olsen. If you wondering if she has any relation to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen the answer is yes. Lizzie Olsen is their younger sister and has acted in many of her sisters’ films. But unlike her sisters, she is more known for performing in indie films such as the upcoming Martha Marcy May Marlene and Peace, Love and Misunderstanding.

Martha Marcy May Marlene (Definitely looking forward to this!)

Echoes Beneath

Echoes Beneath

Plunge into the depths of your despair                                                                           Head first                                                                                                               Submerged below the waters                                                                                     Beneath no sound can be heard                                                                                      No voice                                                                                                                           No lingering curse

As eyes open                                                                                                                   A glistering light twinkles                                                                                            Dancing                                                                                                                          Just beneath the surface of the water

The blue velvet wraps around                                                                                       Gently caressing my skin                                                                                                  My hair                                                                                                                 Intertwined in my mind                                                                                                      It takes those ghastly thoughts                                                                                       And clenches their throats                                                                                              And like a rush                                                                                                          Drowns them out

No longer held down                                                                                                      By the pull of gravity                                                                                                       By human pain and suffering                                                                                       Finally

(Finally)

Sailing pass                                                                                                                Beyond                                                                                                                    Through open waters                                                                                                   Never looking back

Reminders of the Heart

I sometimes forget how important people are to me and so I flare up, I dismiss their opinions or I just simply forget important things about them. I’m learning to understand that its easy to do the wrong things, but terribly difficult to make them right. I found this picture a year ago to remind me to not behave in a manner that would hurt those around me and today I post it up here to remind me once more that love may be universal but the way in which we show our love and concern for others is different. Sometimes its through a hug we give when we meet a friend. Sometimes its by sending a row of colorful emoticon beating hearts. Sometimes its by cooking a hearty meal to end your tiresome day. Sometimes its receiving a text saying “hey how you been?” in the middle of class.  Sometimes its telling you about a gig you might like to catch together. Sometimes its giving you macaroons and watching you happily eat them up (I should gobble actually). Sometimes its singing a meaningful song to you to end a long day. And sometimes its reminding you to have a good proper meal and not let your tummy rumble though you’re rushing for an exam.

I’m learning to appreciate them day

by day.

Quiet Embrace

Finally sat down to pack my room today and to my surprise, I found an album I hadn’t listened to for the longest time: Rist Weekend. It is a mesh of natural sounds, electric music and various instruments. Created by Taunus from Germany, .tape from Spain and Greg Davis from the United States, it was recorded over a week-long vacation. The album is about an enchanting journey of dreams and tranquility and listening to it on a lazy Saturday while packing my horribly messy room just makes the air more whimsical hahah. It feels like every piece is a moment of its own, like a dream that begins in the middle of a conversation and gradually finds it path, crescendo-ing into a realization of the beauty of the dream and softly drifts off leaving you in its quiet embrace.

There are ten tracks on the album but I could only find a few available online so do take a listen: Rist Weekend

Have a beautiful weekend <3

Baby Blues?

Baby Blues,

drawn and written respectively by Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott since 1990,

is one of the cutest and silliest comic stripes you get in our Straits Times.

I remembered reading them everyday when I was younger

laughing at the silliness of Hammie’s nonsensical yet sometimes logical reasoning

Zoe’s cool yet manipulative ways (I like her very much and for good reason hehe)

and of cos Mom and Dad who have to deal with their craziness everyday

(hmmm I wonder how my parents had to deal with a crazy kid like me)

So here are a few I have read and loved over the years

Enjoy!

Water Wars!!!

Santa should know…
